Ankle Pain

This ankle pain is persisting. It is strange though, it doesn't hurt when I'm running, or doing any other high impact aerobics... it hurts when I walk. And it burns sometimes when I'm asleep.
A pain that keeps me active! Go figure.

I've decided though that today since I don't teach any classes, that I should take the day off and see how it feels after some rest. I think I deserve a lunch hour of shopping anyways :)

Need more attention? ever thought of a globetopper?

I was surfing on FlickR today and I discovered the most bizarre and interesting piece of jewelery I've ever seen... the woman who makes them calls them "Globetoppers" .

You apparently wear these spherical pieces of wire adorned with beads around your bossom... hence the name.

I'm not sure I'd ever wear them... but I think it's a very neat idea!
I mean, who doesn't want more attention drawn to their boobs??? (LOL)

they HAVE to be kidding...

My company recently sold a major asset to it's portfolio, which is why I was required to find a new job (which I have done, and I love, by the way!) The point is... this venture has been a huge investment to the company and they spent the past 5 years working on it and tyring to make it even more profitable.

Usually, when my company sells off a large portion of an asset they reward their employees (all the people that contributed to make the sale happen) with a token of their appreciation and a symbol that they can keep to remember their hard work on such a project. For the past few small sales I was involved with, I was given useless desk ornaments (glorified paperweights, really) but I thought for sure with the magnitude of this sale, my company would pull out the big guns and give us something much more superior... Boy was I was wrong.

They gave us a fake painting, with some really boring pictures (almost like stock photos) and some styalized text regarding the sale (for emphasis, I guess).

Seriously, they made like a million of these prints too, it couldn't have been cheap. Why didn't they just go buy us iPods instead, like we REALLY wanted!

Some people's kids!

I taught my regular spin class last night at WSRC. I had taken two weeks off for work reasons, so this was my first class back. I asked my riders "Did you miss me?" and got an astounding "YES!"... apparently the sub I got for the class (the same girl for both weeks) wasn't quite as good as me! (What can I say? I guess I've got it going on :) ) I kinda missed them too... well, not really! haha

iPod Users - PLEASE READ!

SAVE a copy of your iTunes playlists TODAY!!!
If you don't, you could end up loosing them forever... Like I did! :(

I was hemming a pair of Collin's jeans yesterday and I wanted to listen to some music, so I proceeded to launch iTunes and it started up BLANK, as if I had just installed the software! No music library, no playlists, NOTHING! Fortunately the music still resides on my hard drive so I can easily import it again, but unfortunately for me, ALL my playlist have to be recreated! Boo.(What a big waste of time!)

Live and learn, I suppose!
So, please save a copy of your playlists today... you'll thank me if this ever happens to you!

Family Day Fun!

Collin and I had planned another trip to Kananaskis to XC ski for a long time now, we finally both had the time today (which is Family Day, a provincial holiday, here in Alberta)

It started off a great day, sun was shining and the temperature was warm... but as we got out of the car in the parking lot, the wind felt chilly, so we both decided to wear our big winter jackets and since out sunglasses were just a nuicance last time we went out we didn't take them at all this time...
STUPID!!!
It was sooo bright out I could barely see where I was going... I'm sure my retnas were being singed to the back of my skull! And the heavy jacket was another BAD idea... with the temperature being -1oC out, I should have KNOWN better! I sweat in -20oC temperatures when I'm active!!! But once I took off my coat, and we got into the trees, things got going better! Collin managed to fall a couple times on the downhill sections! I fell ZERO times :-) ( I think Collin just wanted to knock me over at one point! LOL) It was actually a great day to be outside, despite a few minor oversights on my part.
I will definitely learn from this for our next XC skiing trip: 1) always bring sunglasses (even if I take them off half way through) and 2) in very warm temperatures, wear a light fleece jacket!

New search: The perfect computer desk

Since finally finding the perfect bedroom armoire, I have started evaluating some of my other furniture that's not quite perfect... like my computer desk and my entertainment unit. (But first thing's first when it comes to big purchases, so I've decided to tackle the computer desk issue first.)
My current computer desk was a cheap "$69.99 special" from Staples. (it's also really small!) I am in dire need of updating it to something newer and bigger so that I can move my computer upstairs, so it won't be constricting the space in my spare/"the beading" room. I want to try to open up the space in that room. I went to Ikea today (I know, I do remember the Ikea nightmare I had with the clothing armoire we bought...) and we found a computer armoire that was made of real wood that looked like it would fit perfect in the spot that I want to put the computer upstairs. (Unfortunately it's made of the cheapest wood out there (pine) so I'm not going to rush into buying it before I've looked around a bit first)

What do you think of it?

New Flickr Pictures & Birthday Wishes

I am back in Calgary from my team event in Kananaskis! It was fun, but I'm glad it's over. I was missing my babaganoush! LOL (that's what Collin and I call each other) (For pics of the event, see my Flickr--->)

by the way "HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLLIN!"
Yes, today is his 29th birthday! Woot! He has invited a bunch of his friends out for dinner tonight, so it should be a good time... I just hope he doesn't drink too much. But you know guys, and how they are with birthdays... "Here' have another drink!" I guess I'll probably end up being his babysitter again! I guess that's the girl friend's job, right?

On Sunday his Mom is going to be making a special birthday dinner (complete with CAKE!) so I'm really looking forward to that! I will have to pace myself with the meal though because I really just want the cake! LOL (Yes, I'll try to be a good girl... but it's hard! Her cakes are SOO DAMN GOOD!)

Happy Valenine's Day!

I will be out of town on a team building event tonight and tomorrow.
We are celebrating Valentine's Day on Saturday instead :)

techie, that's me!

I've become my gym's fitness technology geek among the Group Exercise instructors! Today I was asked "how do I remove the charging cable from my iPod? It's charged, but it won't let go!"

This is the diagram I sent her.

She replied "Ok, it worked... I feel like such a retard!"
Of course it worked :) I just have to laugh!

PS... I started back up with FitDay.com. Hopefully it is what I need to inspire me to get out of this weight gain spiral :)

What's for dinner tonight?

Thai Chicken and Rice, that's what!
I made a trip to Safeway looking for some dinner inspiration and decided I wanted to make something Thai flavored! I managed to find a couple of packages that required minimal preparation and ingredients!
<---This is the final result!

It was really flavorful! The chicken sause was a bit spicy, and I had to use extra water to keep it from becoming too thick. I wouldn't recommend these two together (the chicken sause and the Ginger coconut rice) because they both had a very intense flavor that didn't mingle well. My suggestion would be to make the General Tso's saucy chicken with a plain Basmati or Jasmine rice. Keep it simple.
However the rice was really tasty, so it could be used as a side dish for a more bland chicken dish. Check my Flickr pictures for the packages of ingredients I used.)

They finally arrived!!!

...My new armoire and night stand! :) They look great! Now, I need to rearrange my wall hangings and I need to paint another piece of furniture (a corner shelve) to match both of them!
I also want to buy a new duvet for this bed (since I'm still using my old double comforter, for my new double bed! ...Yes, it's a tad small!) Collin suggested something blue... I'm more partial to green and browns. (What does a guy know about comforters anyways? ;)

Acually, blue bedding might look quite nice with the new modern furniture, don't you think?

Forced to convert!

Well, tonight it forced me to upgrade my Blogger account... it wouldn't let me sign-in any other way. Crap. I've heard that this new blogger sucks. I guess we'll see...

Inflammed tendon! Ouch!

Yup, as I suspected, the tendon's in my foot are inflammed. My doctor gave me a prescription for a anti-inflamatory gel to apply to the area... I wonder if that will work!?! I think I'll also do as my sister says and take some Advil for the inflamation. Advil works like a charm, I just never think to take it unless I'm toppled over in crippling pain (like some menstral cramps! Ughh)

I've got my armoire coming tomorrow! I'm so excited! Tonight, Collin and I will be doing some furniture rearranging to make room for our new pieces! (I'm considering getting rid of my jewellery/lingerie armoire! I know... how sad) But this peice of furniture isn't as useful as it once was (if it was ever that useful!) Right now I use it maily to house my underwear and bras... (which have since outgrown their space in the armoire and have started seeking shelter in a Rubbermaid tote underneith my bed!)

Like I said before "Change is good!" and this new furniture is just the start of that life change that I have really been looking forward to :)

burning in my foot!

I have been complaining of a pain in my right foot since early January. (across the top of the foot, where the shoelaces are but a little more twards the instep of the foot) I did some research today to find out the anatomy of the foot to determine what the heck could be the problem... turns out you have a tendon runing down your foot there. I believe I have tendonitis of this tendon... Boo!

I made an appointment with my doctor for tomorrow, hopefully she can send me to a specialist to get to the bottom of this.

New Job!

Apparently I haven't yet posted about that job I had an interview for... Well, I got it! (last Monday, actually)... but I don't start till February 21st at my new floor. (New building and new floor, actually!) I am pretty excited to move! Change is good! :)

And the armoire shopping is finally over! "Yay!" Collin and I found what we were looking for at "The Bedroom Shoppe". It's just under 6" tall, and it was really reasonably priced. (Granted, this armoire isn't SOLID wood, but it's mainly wood, with particle board in areas that make the peice extremely heavy) I think it's going to work out just fine :) And since I managed to spend half as much on it as originally thought, I also bought a matching night table :) My bedroom is going to look so damn sharp! (Pictures to come, the furniture is being delivered this Thursday)

*******
Have you ever seen cuter little girl's clothes then from this company? It's like LuLulemon, but for pre-teen girls! It's awesome!!! I finally got down to the store on Saturday and couldn't resist but to pick up a complete outfit for my "mini-yogi" neice, Paige... she is going to absolutely LOVE it!

Feeling sha-poopy!

I think I've caught a stinking cold... I'm not feeling 100% tonight!
:(
(Collin and I made up the word Sha-poopy after watching an episode of "Family Guy"... I think the actual word he says in the episode is "Shabooby"!?!?.)

I finally had time today to clean my spare bedroom and it was definitely time to set up my birthday present from Collin: My new HP All-in-One Printer-Scanner-Copier! :) It's a beautiful peice of machinery! (I have not printed anything substantial off it yet (besides the alignment page :p) But the printer did come with 5 pieces of glossy photo paper, that I'm very anxious to try out!)

I can't wait to see this thing in action!!!

Short Week!

I get tomorrow off. I love short weeks!

Trying to ween myself off of sugar is harder then I thought. Replacing a can of pop with a bottle of water isn't quite the same! But I know it's best for me... so I'm going to keep on track!

I found this cool website (probably not that cool to you guys, but I'm a geological technologist geek, so it's cool to me! LOL) I was able to download all the digital elevation topography images of my new working area and I created a 3D view of that map! :)
Have a look: This is a map of Southern Saskatchewan, hence it's pretty flat!
(click on map to see full sized view)

I love the detail!
