Glasses

Me in my old glasses.... RIP, where ever you are!

I have been on the lookout for the perfect pair of glasses, ever since mine got stolen from my car earlier this year.
Here are a few of the pairs that I've been looking at:

Which do you prefer?

Another week, another Hike!

Another week, another hike...
This one may look familiar to those of you that follow my blog.
It's called Moose Mountain. Collin and I hiked it last year in late September... unfortunately we didn't make it to the top, since the snow was way too deep and we could no longer see the trail.

Here's a pic from last years expedition to compare... notice all the snow up to the Fire Lookout!

If you go to my Flickr page, you can see the notes I've added to the photos.

Home Inspection time!

I bought a house on Tuesday! And now it's time to get the conditions met before the deal can be finalized....
I'm getting a home inspection done on the new place today, so Collin and I are taking a couple hours out of our work day to go do that.

I am feeling way better about the whole house thing because Collin has finally started to "get it"! Meaning, he's actually realized (on his own!) that now that we own a house, his truck might have to go. (Ya think??? lol) I mean, his portion of the house mortgage payments alone are as much as his current monthly truck payment! (At the time, Collin's friend, who's a lawyer, tried to talk him into buying a house with the loan he took out, but you know boys and their toys... Collin decided to buy a truck instead!) He would have been WAY further ahead if he'd had bought a house instead of the truck... cause he could sell it now and be LOADED! Haha... But hindsight is 20/20! I've taught him some good lessons already about money and spending, and I think it's starting to actually sink in! :)

I know he doesn't see me as his sugar momma, but that's how I was starting to feel. Why should Collin get to spend all his money on his vehicle, while (since my vehicle is already paid off) I have to put all my money twards the mortgage of a place we BOTH want to live in and raise a family in? Just seems kinda juvinile and if we are going to be in this together... then I think he should bite the bullet and sell the truck and get involved in the finances! Seems like that is what Collin's been thinking about too, so I'm very happy that we are on the same page!

Product Endorsement

Nestea Single serving drink packets, sweetened with Splenda!
(I know, this is a photo of the Lipton variety of water sweetners, but I just could not find a picture of the Nestea ones... weird!)

These things are just the BEST!
You add these little packets to a 500ml water bottle and they make your water taste absolutely wonderful! (And Apparently they contain just 5 calories per serving! Booyah!)
My favorite right now is the Nestea Summer Peach flavor. Mmmm Mmmm, so good! I can't wait to try out the others.

...and now for something completely different!

This was the scene where Collin and I went mountain biking on Sunday. There were trees uprooted, and down all over the place! I have not seen such destruction in the forest on a bike trail in the 7 years I've been mountain biking!! (And that's even including 2005; the year that Calgary basically got flooded out!)

This is a picture of one section of the trail (called "Telehpone Trail") This was defintitely the worst section of damage, the trees were toppled over each other like a beaver dam! I had to carry my bike and try to balance along the logs to get to the other side of the trail! Sketchy!!!

Normally this ride would take me 1 hr and 30minutes to complete, tops! Yesterday, with all the log jumping it took us 3 hours!!! ...to complete the 15km loop! I was pretty dissapointed because it's normally such a fun trail! Yesterday I was cursing everything from my bike to the fallen trees, because it was just NO FUN getting off my bike every 2 minutes to jump another log[s]!!!

I will check trail conditions before going out on another ride this season! Something is just not right with the mountain biking Gods or something because my mountain bike rides just aren't making me very happy this season!

Scanning, once again

I spent a couple hours last night scanning some old photos and getting to know how to use my HP scanner a little better. I've posted the pics to FLICKR as well as Facebook.
I hope you take some time to check them out.

Another week, in review

Man! This summer if just flying by! Already July is half over... I can't believe it! (I guess that's because this is also the time of year for weddings, and I've been quite busy with my brothers! We had a great weekend in Leduc at my brothers wedding reception. I got to see a bunch of relatives that I rarely see anymore. It was good talking to my grandparents, knowing that my Grandma is taking good care of my Grandpa he's in good hands! I hope I take after her! She's a machine!!!) And, now that it's all finished, I hope to get back to enjoying the summer sun (which we've been getting a LOT of!) and doing a lot more outdoor activities (mountain biking, rollerblading, hiking, etc). I have given the gym a lot less days avaliability for teachig classes this summer so this will leave me plenty of time for PLAYING. I can't wait to get busy playing! :)

I'm also planning a couple trips in August: August long weekend, I'm going to Cold Lake to visit my best friend and her husband in Cold Lake, August 15th to 20th (tentatively) is when I'm planning to go to Nanaimo to visit my sister and her family. (It appears that I have a lot of vacation days avaliable to me between now and June30th, 2008 so I may as well use them up, right?)

Here's to the sunny days of summer!

My week, in review.

I am a bit sore today. We (a couple girl friends and I) went mountain biking on Sunday... it was a 13km loop... my legs were tired after that. Then Monday night I taught my Strong class (weights) so my legs were getting really sore! And today I decided to run on the treadmill for 35 minutes... but then followed that up with 15 minutes of stretching my sore muscles. Stretching felt good, and I do feel better now then I did this morning!

Yesterday was also my work Stampede event. We got to go to the rodeo! It was a blast! I did have to leave the grounds early (to teach my class) but I had a great time with my collegues in the grand stands! (I have a few pics to post, but still need to DL them to my computer!)
One poor bull rider was launched in the air by the bull he was riding! It was just like in the cartoons! I couldn't believe it! The cowboy managed to walk away from the incident, but I'm sure he's a hurting unit today! Poor guy!

I'm leaving to Leduc tomorrow for a few days of RnR with my family. Ahhhh...

Missing posts

I wrote and posted a long entry yesterday about my moldy bread experiences (which is no longer posted on my blog today). Somehow it doesn't seem like an inportant enough topic to bother regurgitating all the information. So, I'll spare you all the deets. Let's just say I made myself a sandwhich with moldy bread, and almost ate it! GROSS!

Today is Stampede Parade day and I have the day off! Hooray! Collin is off to Cold Lake today for his cousin's wedding this saturday, and tomorrow I am off to Banff for my Brother's wedding! (It's that time of year, isn't it!?!) I'm a bid dissapointed that Collin and I can't share in both of these weddings together, but I do understand why we both have to attend the weddings that we were each invited to. (Collin and his cousin are almost like brothers!)

I asked him to bring his digital camera... let me check for it... yup, it's right where he left it! I guess there will be no pictures to post of that wedding (unless his mom takes some!) I will most definitely have mt trusty little Casio in hand tomorrow to capture the excitement of the day as everyone gets ready for Joe and Misty to get hitched! :) (It will be a good day tomorrow, and supposed to be very nice weather, too... perhaps too hot???)
