Jasper Weekend!

Happy Canada Day Long Weekend!

Collin and I have decided to spend our long weekend in Jasper National Park this year.

(Here's a gorgeous picture of Jasper I found on Flickr)
We are planning on doing a couple hikes, perhaps taking a dip in the Miette hot springs, and on the way home stopping off to see a few of the numerous water falls that blanket the Icefields Parkway.

I will be a camera happy fool this weekend, you know it! Ha ha!

Physically Exhausted!

This past weekend was great! Collin, Joleen, Debbie and I went for a hike on Sunday (a hike which Collin and I did last year; Prairie View Mountain). We got to the trail at 10am it was pretty nice out... a few clouds in the sky, but nothing that would stop us from going. (We actually started hiking at 10:30am... once we all got organized... Deb was at a different parking lot at first and there was no cel service in that spot!)

It was actually easier hiking it this time, and we made it to the 'Prairie View' by 12:30ish.Perfect timing to see a storm brewing! There were a few storm clouds floating around, hovering near Calgary. It was really neat to watch!

Luckily the storm didn't hit the area where we were hiking, and kept itself isolated to the city of Calgary. (We also stopped in Bragg Creek afterwards for IceCream! Mmmm!)
Such a great day!

I was pretty tired after the hike. Then I had to come home and practice my Cardio Kick choreography that night. (I was launching the new choreography Monday at noon and I hadn't really even started studying it! Yikes!!) I managed to pull off the launch class all by myself, with only a few minor mistakes (I'm actually pretty proud of myself! Cramming always was the best way to study for me!)
So on Monday I taught Cardio Kick and Strong (my regular Monday night class at WSRC) and then today at noon I taught Revs... and now I'M DONE! No more exercise till Thursday! (and then on Friday Collin and I are planning a trip to Jasper for the Canada Day long weekend! More hiking!!! Yay!)

Nostalgia

Last night I decided to search my condo high and low for pictures of my yester years... I couldn't find the 2 OLDEST photo albums (pre-1993) and I was a little freaked out! Low and behold, the last place I would look, there they were... in a BIG Rubbermaid tote in my crawlspace. (Should have known. lol)

I scanned a few of the pics (it took a good HOUR to go through HALF of the pics, and select a FEW for scanning! I have a big job ahead of me!) I've posted them to Facebook, so if you are my Facebook friend you'll probably already caught a glimpse of me in my Grade 9 GRAD dress. (HOT!) Good times.
(I'm glad I was a bit of a shutterbug as a kid, and that my parents let me spend my allowance (their hard earned money) on developing my films! Yay Mom and Dad!)

More pictures posted to Flickr soon!!!

... I put my arms around you....

I am absolutely in love with the song "Dancing" by Elisa. I first heard it off the show "So, you think you can Dance". Lacey and Kameron danced a contemporary piece (click to watch it on YouTube) that was absolutely AMAZING! (Seriously, it gave me chills!)

Since I found the song on iTunes, and can't get it out of my head!!! Elisa has some fierce vocals! I try to compete with her (when I sing along in the car) and I pale in comparison to her rendition of the song.
It's so beautiful!

New Jewellery

I made a new necklace for a friend and finally finished it last night so I can give it to her today after Strong class.
What do you think of it? It turned out very nice, I think!

Golf Diva!

Don't we look Posh?
That's Jo and I posing after completing a day of golfing. We felt like pros! haha! (Especially Jo, she even ended up wearing a glove by the end of her round!)

I think out of the entire 18 holes I hit 1 half-decent shot! How sad is that!?!? My team managed a score of -8 which I thought was ok, considering our team had a huge handicap (ME! LOL!) (I think that was the booze's fault, hehe)

But really, I didn't care how I golfed... it was a day off work, and that's always a bonus! Yay!
Check out my Flickr for more pics of our Golf Cart races! ~Fun times!~

PS... a side note: I either had a lot of charm that day, or looked extra hot, or maybe it was just the booze talking, but my golfing partner (in the pic, the goof behind us in the cart) decided to ask me for my phone number at the end of the day... UH....Was he F*N'G serious???
"No, Dude! N.O."

Unexpected Payment

I had some hail damage occur to my Honda Element in Late 2005. I have since had the damage repaired and even SOLD the vehicle!! NOW, I'm getting calls from my insurance company stating that I owe the body shop that did the work, my deductable. I was POSITIVE that I was told that the insurance company would waive this fee as long as I took my vehicle into a certain body shop (obviously that's what I did... but apparently that was not the case.) So today I paid my deductable to the body shop!
Seems weird that they are only coming after their money NOW... it's been almost 2 years since that work was completed!!! Someone's been slacking on the paperwork, I think. (Either that, or I really was supposed to have the deductable waived, and someones making a few easy bucks... But since I talked to my insurance company yesterday to clarify things, I know that the latter is NOT the case!)

Golf Tournament

I've got a corporate golf tournament to go to on Thursday all day! The weather is supposed to be +20oC with variable clouds. Should be a great day!!!

And then I get this Friday off... Ahhhh. I don't think I could work a job that I had to work every Friday again. Getting the first and third Friday's off per month is awesome!!!

Blogging is losing to Facebook!

Stupid Faceboook is getting way too much of my attention these days. I need to stop using it so much... I mean, really, things don't change that much on that thing anyways. I wonder why I feel the need to check it every hour!?!

Collin and I went mountain biking in the NW of Calgary this Sunday... I forgot how many Creek crossings there were on this one trail... and due to the massive amounts of rain we've been getting and the run off from the mountains the creek was flowing with FULL FORCE! We made about 15 creek crossings and hit many mud puddles! Collin enjoyed this trail, but there were quite a few people out on the trail walking (with their dogs and kids) which made the ride a little intermitent (stop, start, stop, start!) And with the amount of stopping and starting we were already doing to avoid the creek, it was a very slow ride. I think next, I'll bring Collin to Nose Hill Park or maybe COP. Something with NO WATER HAZARDS please! lol

Blogging is taking a back seat...

... to FACEBOOK! Why is Facebook so interesting to me??? (I'm sure I'm not the only addict to Facebook out there!)
I have actually been posting notes on my Facebook profile, which I kind of consider mini blog entries. (Hence my lack of entries on my actual Blog.) Sawwy... I'll try to pick up my socks and blog here from now on!

... and now for the actual entry.... :)

Collin and I have been making some effort to get out on our bikes lately. We went out twice last week, both were 15km rides. Collin was a bit sketched out on our first ride, but he was much more comfortable on his bike on our second ride. We did two different trails: Bowness Park and Fish Creek Park. I don't think I'll bring Collin back to Fish Creek again any time soon because they havent fixed any of the bridges that were washed out in the floods of 2005 yet! (Man, they have had 2 years, what's the hold up???) It was very frustrating riding there because the river travels right through most of the trails. (There used to be 11 bridges, now there is 3! Gong show!) Oh well, this is the beauty of living in Calgary, we don't live too far from great mountain biking just on the outskirts of the city. I love that! Maybe I'll take Collin to Bragg Creek this weekend... I'll have to see if he's up to that yet. (I keep forgetting, he's still a newbie!!!)

My body is starting to feel the burn... especially my quads.
Ahhhh... workout burn is back! haha
