Don't tell me what to do!??!??!??

Just one last post before I take off...
I just got off the phone with Darren. We were almost finished our conversation, he told me to have a good time in Golden, so I said back "Well, you guys have fun climbing this weekend!" and to that he replied "You don't have to tell me what to do, but we will!"

What the heck kind of response is that??? I was just trying to be nice!

... Maybe I need to stop that!

I'm all cowboy-hatted up, and ready to party in Golden for the weekend! YeeeHaawww!

Happy birthday Canada!

Getting ready for Golden!

This long Canada day weekend, my friends and I have planned a nice trip to Golden, BC to do some white water rafting and camping! :) I'm quite excited to sleep in my Element. I just bought a new MEC sleeping bag for the weekend and everything!!!

I need to go out shopping for food tonight and pack my things for a couple days of camping! Can't forget my bathing suit or the sunscreen! I am sooo looking forward to the refreshing BC air :)

Fun in K-Country

Yesterday I went on a team building/guest entertaining event to a Ranch in Kananaskis. (My new group works on what is called a Joint Venture, which means we have a partner who has a 50% interest and charge for the work that we do. Our partners on the Chad project are from Bejing, China) To give them a taste of our lifestyle in the West, we took them out to a ranch in K-Country for a horseback ride, a steak lunch followed by a few games of horseshoes. It was a beautiful day for all that activity! Sun was shining, a nice breeze... PERFECTION) I took lots of nice pics... have to upload them to the net yet though.

I got home and went for pho (Vietnamese food) and a rollerblade with Bryanne. I had to break in my new K2 rollerblades. I wasn't actually too impressed with them after the first blade... they felt MUCH slower then my old hard boot blades. I have no idea how the bearings in the new blades compares to the old ones... but for some reason they are underperforming my ANCIENT Rolelrblades. :( Does anyone have any ideas regarding this topic? Should I ride my new blades more, maybe I'm just not used to them? Jenny... do you remember what ABEC the Rollerblades have? Or the wheel size? I think I'll be heading back to Sport Mart with both pairs of rollerblades, and seeing what the shop guy has to say. I'm kinda dissapointed with my new blades at this point. :(

And last night I got together again with Darren (ice climber guy, my date from Sunday night) He's so cute! But MAN... he talks a lot! (Any of you that know me, knows that I can talk A LOT myself... but when I hang out with Darren I feel like a mute! LOL ... but seriously. I kind of feel like my voice doesn't get the workout it requires when we chat... which could be a problem!) We just met up for a coffee and a chat. It was nice! I really do think he's a pretty great guy!
Let's see where this goes!

Good, Bad and Great all in one?

That was how my weekend went. Good, Bad, Great! Ok... not exactly, but I thought it was a catchy subject line.
I spent Saturday morning with Katz at the Calgary Zoo. We had a lot of fun watching the animals. (My favorite exhibit was the gorillas, my least favorite was "Creatures of the night"... it smelled like B.O. and urine (pot) in there!)
Finally, Carmen made it to town (at 5pm!) we finally headed off to Banff. We get there, booked our hostel... Carmen just can't help herself but to dilly-dally. We didn't get out on our bikes that night till 8pm... we did get in a fun little loop called Tunnel/ Hoodoos Trail and headed out for dinner afterwards. (It was a weak ride to drive all the way out to Banff for! I was a bit dissapointed.)
Then Sunday we woke up late... I was up early, but Carmen didn't want to move apparenty. And headed for breakfast, dilly-dallying the whole way. We got to the next trail at 1:30pm... Carmen expected us to ride to the END of the trail (22k ONE WAY)... I got a flat tire at 13k, and it took about 30 mins to get my bike good enough to ride again. We decided to head back. After all that, we made it to Calgary at like 6:30pm... and was totally late for the date I had planned!!! I called my date, luckily he too was running a bit behind, because I didn't end up meeting him till 8pm. Oh boy, finally a nice, cute one :) We went out for Asian/Thai food... and we talked the night away! We wanted to go out for drinks after but it was late on a Sunday night... and everything was closing. We agreed to meet again next weekend, when we are both free... I'm actually looking forward to it! YAYYYYYYYYYYYY... LOL

New toys!

Katz was having a rough day yesterday, I could just tell! So I invited her out for a coffee and just to talk! We went to Micheal's then to Tim Horton's. It was nice just to sit and chat for a bit! I know it turned Robin's frown upside down a little bit! (she also brought me a little gift... her latest beaded African Violet has now become mine :)
I love it! It's already sitting on my desk at work! Thank You Katz! You are so very talented!

I noticed a Sport Mart near where we parked, so I asked Robin if she wanted to go with me to look for a new pair of rollerblades. She agreed, and off we went. There were so many more boots to choose from at Sport Mart compared to Sport Chek! I ended up getting the K2 - VO2 (T9) model. They are sweet! I'm going to be so fast and smooth now :)
(Jenny, aren't you proud... I'm retiring the old Rollerblades!!! LOL)

Funny comments

I taught Spin class yesterday, as I do every tuesday at lunch hour. It was very hot and humid in the class! On a normal day in spin class, we all sweat buckets... yesterday was exceptionally sweaty for me!

After class, a woman that was in my class (who is not a regular) says to me "That was a great class! I sweat more today then I did in Mexico!" HAHA I love to hear comments like that! ...Means I'm doing my job! :)

Also, when I mentioned to the class that I would NOT be teaching the Friday spin class this week... I actually heard people groan! LOL
And when I told them who was filling my spot for the class, they barely looked impressed. (I know how it is... I used to be a member too and I also had my favorite instructors.)
It's nice to know they like my style :)

My life...

... If I was a gay white guy! LOL

(the baseball guy... that chef guy...
OMG, it sounds like he's talking about MY dates! LOL)

Something's gotta give.

I am bitter. It's true. I can't help it. I just feel like for the past 6 months I've been crapped on by the relationship fairy.
... I just don't get it!

Advice anyone ?
(I might not take it, but I'd love to hear what you have to say!) LOL

This weekend I'm off to Jasper with one of my team mates. Hopefully that will take my mind off my issues.

SURPRISE!

It was my friend's birthday yesterday, so her BF decided it would be fun to get all her friends together and surprise her!
So, we all went the Olive Garden earlier then they were supposed to arrive so we could decorate our table. We wore party hats and blew up some balloons. They arrived and she was so surprised to see us! :) I'm glad we all were able to keep it a secret! I think she really enjoyed it!
It was a really good time I thought. We had some really good discussions! (This is the same group of people that I am going white water rafting on Canada Day long weekend! It will be good times :)

... ok, a little more bitching

Urrrgghhhhh. Some people just can't be relied on.
I have a few people like that in my life... and it frustrates me to no end!

I posted yesterday that I was planning on mountain biking out near Bragg Creek last night... well, my friend that I was riding with showed up late, without water... basically unprepared! (After I busted my ASS to be there on time with a full camelback and all my rain gear, etc...)

Then, when we start riding, she's getting all pissed off cause there are wet roots and her tires keep spinning over them. (Grrr... then ride slower and use some skill!) She's getting so frustrated that eventually she stops and says "I'm not feeling good. I'm going to wait here for a bit." So I forge ahead... I get about another 0.5K in and I hear her calling my name. She's having bike problems... FIGURES! I honestly don't think she wanted to be out there very badly. She even asked me while we were in the parking lot "Why am I doing a mountain bike race? I don't even like mountain biking very much!" OMG... I could have lost it on her right then and there! (Someone help this girl to get her shit together!)

Honestly, I think I need to cut her off for a bit. Her disrespectful attitude (eventhough it's not a blatant attempt or anything) is really getting under my skin. I am a very honest person, and I know the value of people's time... so I try not to waste it. And if I SAY I'm going to be somewhere by 6pm, I get there by 6pm! Not 6:20pm!!!
(I even skipped supper for her! Would she do the same for me? Doubtful.)

I guess sometimes you really are better off alone.

wasn't meant to be

I am starting to think me having a pet just wasn't meant to be. I have already made 2 trips to the Humane Society and came home with nothing :( Both times the animal that caught my eye, also caught the eye of someone else looking to adopt a pet first.

I guess I need to get there earlier!

Tonight Bryanne and I are planning on going for a bike ride in Bragg Creek. As long as the rain holds off it should be fun!

Bongo was adopted :(

Boo for me!
I went to the Humane Society yesterday, and the ONLY kitty I wanted (his name was Bongo) was on-hold! I called this morning, only to find out that he was in fact adopted. :(
(good for the kitty, bad for me!)

Back to the drawing board, I guess.
(It seems like finding the right pet is just as tough as finding a boyfriend.)

Goddess Cards

I decided to try a yoga class at the pool by my house. It was called "Yoga Strength" so I thought it would be a little more intense then just a normal yoga class.
We ended up doing a yoga class on the wall, using straps and blocks. It was quite intense and a lot harder then I imagined! (My quads are sore today, but that is probably mostly due to the FORCE class I did at noon.) I was a little dissapointed in her Savosna (meditation). She was reading what to say from a sheet of paper, not sitting in lotus or anything. Not what I would expect from a true yoga instructor... oh well. She tried!

But the part I really liked (and think I might adopt) was at the end of class she spread out these cards, that she called "Goddess Cards" and each one had a picture and a saying. She said "Come and take a card that you are drawn too and read it. It might give you some insight!"
My goddess card said "You have the power to transform your life" and on the back it mentioned how having a positive attitude can change your being.
I know it's true. I have been letting things get to me lately and I've had a negative attitude for a while now. (like the past 3 months for sure)

I need to take care of that!
I think that getting a kitty will help restore my positive nature :)

blogger down :(

I had a post all ready, then I tried to post, and Blogger was down for maintenance! Boo.

I'm getting really anxious to get a kitty!!! I went to the ARF, MEOW, and The Humane Society websites today on my search. I found one cat and I fell in love with it on the MEOW website... but have you seen the document they make you fill out just to APPLY to adopt one of their animals??? OMG... It's worse then a job interview! I felt like a bad person just for filling it out!
After that fiasco, I've decided it's easier to get a cat from The Humane Society... so I'll go back this weekend (hopefully) and seek out my new best friend then! :)

I can't wait to feel the soft fur and smooth purrs of a kitty!!!

teenage boys... ya can't live with 'em!!!

I was riding my bike tonight, up and down Edworthy park. I was on my last grueling uphill climb (up the paved road) when I encountered a group of boys ranging in age from 13 to 18. I barely looked at them... just minded my own business and kept riding.
As I pass them, one of the boys commented that I had a nice bike. (Hmmp. Thanks kid.) Then, as I'm trailing away I hear the little 13 year old making snide comments about me.
"Ride faster!", "You're not going to make it to the top!", and the one coment that broke the camels back... "work that fat off your arse!"
I'm getting name called by a 13 year old??? Does he realize who he's dealing with? OBVIOUSLY not!
I was THIS close to turning around to have a "confrontation" with the little b*stard... but something in me head told me to just finish my ride. So I did... Not even 5 blocks away from that incident, I encounter a light that I have to stop for. While waiting for the walk sign, I get whistled at by some young dude in his sports car.

Apparently I look FAT to teenaged kids, and PHAT to older guys. LOL

No wonder teenaged girls have self esteem issues, they are dealing with teenaged boys all the time! Ugh... I'm glad those years are over!

Beading Monday

Last night I called Katz cause we had spoke earlier about making another trip to the Humane Society to find me a kitty. Well, I decided against it because my best friend is coming into town this weekend, and because she's super allergic to cats I though I'd wait till after this weekend. (What a nice friend I am!) So instead, she came over and we made jewellery. She made a braclet using her favorite modified stitch, the Sonata... and I spent my time fighting with my pearls and glass beads making a satin cord necklace. It turned out quite nice :) so did Robin's braclet! Will have to post pics soon.

I think I have to get out on my bike tonight, as it's going to be the last day of dry weather, so the forecast says! Booo.

fire drill?

I have no idea what is going on with the smoke detector in my condo, but it briefly chimed once every hour last night... starting at like 11pm and carried on till 7am this morning. I am too short to reach it so I didn't do anything about this annoyance... I'm not really sure what this could mean!? what do you think is wrong? Does my detector need to be reset? Or does it run on batteries? It still has the green light illuminated, so that's gotta be a good sign... I'll try to get to the bottom of this tonight!

Bryanne and I went for an amazing bike ride in Fish Creek last night! We both did a really steep downhill which was totally impressive! We met a guy named Max there... he showed us around. (because after alll of the flooding of last summer there are almost no bridges left to get across the creek) We then went to Moxie's after for dinner and we both got a white-chocolate brownie to finish off the day! Mmmm... It was awesome!

more bugs!

Yesterday I'm in my bathroom, and I see movement out of the corner of my eye, on my jewellery... second look... it's an ANT crawling on my necklace! Ewwwww. How did he get there?
Later that evening, go to brush my teeth, I see more movement... on my wicker make-up holder... another ANT! Double Ewwwww! Where are they coming from? How are they getting into my condo? Do they have a secret doorway into my bathroom???

I do see a lot of ants outside my condo though, on the pavement. Is it possible they have made their way into my basement somehow? And because of the nice weather have decided to move in where it's nice and cozy?

Eww... ants are gross. (But I'll take ants over spiders any day of the week!)
