Crow, I finally GOT IT!


I still can hardly believe it! That's me in this picture doing CROW pose!
I have been trying to figure this pose out for I'd say over a year now and I continued to fall flat on my face each time... until last night! Something in the words the woman who was leading the yoga session said made the light bulb go on for me and FINALLY I was UP in crow and balancing!

I still feel SO GOOD about myself for accomplishing this! It may seem like a small feat for some of you, but to me... this is HUGE! I feel like I've mentally grown so much, so quickly!

It's amazing how good yoga makes one feel!

New Yoga Clothes

I have been feeling that none of my clothes fit right lately, and since I had Friday off I decided to check out some new stores that I've been meaning to check out: Body Things and LotusWear. (Body Things is mostly dance/fitness wear, and Lotus Wear is like Lululemon, all yoga wear)
I did very well! I found many cool tops from Body Things (all were on sale) and I I found a jacket that fit me! and pair of pants from LotusWear! Woot! I also forgot (DUHHH) that I get a 15% discount (because I am a fitness instructor) from Lululemon.... and I found out on Friday, that I also get 15% off at Body Things AND Lotus Wear!
(I guess being an instructor does have it's benefits!)

No music!

I am not a yoga instructor... I teach Breathe, which is a fusion class of Tai-Chi, Yoga, Pilates and Meditation. We use music to keep the beat, and to keep our choreography flowing.

I teach most every Saturday morning. This morning was no different. I walked into the studio (my class is after a TKO class) and the previous instructor tells me "The speakers aren't working... I don't think the stereo is working at all!"

OMG! Now, I'm a little freaked... what am I going to do?!?

What could I do?!? Send the members away? NO! ...I improvised without music!!! I felt like a true yoga instructor! I have never taught a class in silence before, the only sound was me talking... no wonder yoga instructors start sounding so monotone and repetitive.
"Inhale, reach up to extended mountain. Exhale, forward fold.
Inhale to lunge. Exhale, downdog."

I was pretty proud of myself for making it through the class without a hitch. I guess that just shows my many years of experience shining through. :)

Another Video

Tonight, we are videoing another edition of our signature series DVD's (for educational purposes, of course!) and one of our Breathe instructors has bailed on the taping. So that means the two of us left taping have to pick up the slack for her 3 tracks. (As well as my current 2 tracks, I will be additionally doing the meditation track, which should be easy enough :)

I hope the camera doesn't add those damn 10 pounds again. Last time I saw the video I thought I looked extremely short and thick! lol
(and today we will be wearing green tops and white pants... ack, even worse!)

Just say NO to shoulder stand!

I went to brunch with 3 girls from work, and afterwards, I hit the gym for some yoga. It was really intense today, I had to back out of many poses because she was getting us to hold them for too long and my legs were giving out! We finished the day with 'shoulder stand' pose and it just made me feel fat! I feel like I've gained a lot of 'flesh' on my backside that I've never really noticed before, until I had to push myself up into shoulder stand. :( I think I need more cardio and less yoga right now.
My routine needs something to spice it up... any suggestions?

They picked some of MINE!

I am going to get to help create the choreography for a couple of tracks on the next BREATHE release!!!! I'm sooo pumped because I've thought I could do this for a while, there was just never an openning for me to get involved!
I get to help with the Leg Strength Track (basically yoga warrior poses) and the Folds Track (pre-meditation track, should be way easy to do!) I even get to choreograph song that I submitted :) "Dare you to Move" by Switchfoot & "Teardrops" by Massive Attack. I have started on it today, pulling the song apart, verse by verse... this is the hardest part! Putting the choreography together should be a sinch!
