Texas Donuts?!?
Has anyone else heard of this? Apparently, the elementary schools in Calgary used to have a "Texas Donut day", where if the kids brought in some money, they could get a "Texas Donut" for lunch! (Think Texas Sized Donuts!!!!!...Wow, sounds like a super healthy and balanced meal!?! NOT!)
I remember having hot-dog days in Saskatchewan, but never donut days. What does that teach kids about proper nutrition? (Then again, do hot-dog days teach them much more?)

I do remember being able to have long johns on pizza days, but they were no Texas donuts!! BWAHAHAHA
We had hot dogs too. I always had them, but I thought they were pretty gross...those limp little hot dogs being delivered by the ice cream bucket!!
I read today that Calgary's been voted most attractive city to live in?? Or something like that!

Yeah, apparently the "Texas Donut Day" didn't affect Calgary too badly! ;) I think being so close to the mountains helps!
Apparently we were named "City with the best looking work force!" LOL Lots of young people, that's why!

Yeah, but Texas Donuts are like the size of your head! They are HUGE! I just think it's hilarious!
But you know what they say, "Everything's bigger in Texas!"

Where has all the fun gone,Most kids toke them home to share with their parents or siblings, the money went to a good cause and motivated students behavior and fitness participation in gym,its okay to treat yourself once and a while, its all you fatsters that have it in their head that you are supose to eat it all,put a candle in it and serve it up for a birthday,at least I only got to drink coffee as a kid at church, guess I better go for a roller blade I have been on this thing to long

TEXAS DONUT DAY was the best. We lived in a low income community and when it was that special day at school I always made sure I had my 25 cents ready to purchase a maple one.
Good Times and memories.

you gotta be kidding me, for lunch? haha they weren't for lunch, they were just sort of like treats that we picked up at the end of the day... or at least for my school.

texas donuts were not our "lunch" they were treats we took home. Slow your role and check your snotty nutrition comments at the door. Honestly, a hot dog is much less "nutritional" than a donut in any event...
