Pets and YOUR health

I found an article while surfing on-line today... I am more compelled that ever to get a pet!
But then I also found these animal budgeters: CAT/ DOG... Is it really that expensive to have a cat or dog???

Maybe I should stick to my fish idea...

The pets that those people belong to are very well fed! I don't go through that much food etc. They have a very high average.

Well as a dog owner of a medium sized mixed breed fixed female, I can say that those people are WAY off!!
Piper eats 8Kg of dog food a month! NOT 18 holy shit. They spoiled the crap out of that dog. Piper has had the same toys for a year now and she's not missin' anything. She gets treats every couple weeks but that costs me TWO dollars.
The one time costs are accurate though... big deal.

Get a pet- it's sure made a difference in my life.

Where the heck are they buying there food and treats?? My 2 don't even eat that much in a month.. and you know they are spoiled.

nail trimming.. that's what a scratching post is for!

no matter the cost. I'm all for having pets :)

I agree with everyone here, as a owner of a smallish Yorkie-poo, which I thought would be hell to train at first, but that only was cause we had a few things to learn. !!!
After that it wasn't to costly, the vet bill for fixing and hourly rates for the vet are astranomical but I know a cat owner who has spent way more on her cat than we have on our dog !
Some people love animals and they aren't hard to love once you have one---your hooked.
ask Grampa, ha ha

I think that pets enrich your life but they do come with some baggage one must realize what will you do when you go out or to work as it's hard to run home at noon to let out the dog !!!
just as Mom lol

I think you should get a cat...but a small dog would be good too, maybe one you could run/walk with, ya know?

Exactly what I was thinking! I'd love a companion during my exercise!

But I do love cats... I am so torn!

Good to know those costs are a wee bit high... saw those numbers and thought "that's about as expensive as having a BABY!!!" LOL
And I can barely afford to feed myself some days!!! ;)

Ok, so it's settled. I'm getting a pet... but what???

As for your question of what type of pet; all depends on your level of committment. My cat is pretty low maintenance i can go away for the weekend and know that he will be alright. Enough food, water and the kittylitter is clean and he's a happy Joey.

What kind to get you ask?? well knowing your life style I would recomend a cat. I'm not being biased at all :) cats are easy to train. Dogs take a while to train to do their business where you want them to. cats.. well you show them thier litter box and they just know what to do.
