I have a samsung of some variety and I like it...
I have no idea what they are 'worth'...

The cost really varies...how much do you want to spend on a cell phone? Do you want it do everything? Be your dayplanner, play music, send email?? I have always like Motorola and Nokia phones, but I am using an LG one right now. It has "fast tap" technology and allows me to text message a lot faster :-)

If I were looking for a celly. I would check out the new Motoralla "Razr" model it has lots of features and a great display and clock display on the outside.
